You will receive a well rooted bare root Good King Henry plant start. If planted in good soil you can expect a very well established plant by the end of the growing season.

Good King Henry is an incredibly hardy and early growing spinach-like perennial vegetable. The leaves are best enjoyed as a cooked green. The young flowering stalks are tasty lightly cooked and are known as “poor man’s asparagus”. Perhaps one of the most exciting yields this plant has to offer is that of it’s quinoa-like seeds that have a potential for a perennial grain crop. We like to soak to the seeds to remove the saponins and cook just like amaranth or quinoa.

GKH can grow quite large, taking up diameters of up to 3ft. It quickly established deep taproots which allow this plant to be a good competitor with grass. In our experience GKH does well both in full sun and part shade.
